1 years have passed since mc retired from being a receptionist. mc returned to the guild to join as an adventurer. mc is having anxiety of being a middle aged man of 32 starting his career as an adventurer. mc meets the receptionist, arisa, a former junior receptionist of mc. arisa took care of mc's exam registration. after having a bit of a quick scene with another adventurer, mc got his form and is set for the exam. mc meets with a lynette, a dark elf maid, she tells mc that their other friends will come to see mc's exam. mc is anxious of how old he is compared to the other applicants. lynette comforts mc by telling him he has grown drastically within the 2 years of training and that mc should not worry about anything. mc is also advice to hold back. meanwhile, in the guild, an investigation is bring held, regarding the unconcious adventurer that mc easily beats up. back to mc, mc is looking at his exam schedules. afterward, the exam commences. the first exam mc has to enter is the power measurement. mc tries to measure the power of other youthful applicants. although, the other applicants as well the proctor are amazed, mc is underwhelmed. when it was mc's turn, others looked down on mc. mc felt himself trying to show them off but at the same time holding back, as adviced of him by his friend. mc wrecked the measurement. everyone was surprised. mc had to admit, his two years of training, holding back isn't one of the many things he was taught.
2 mc aces the next part of the exam, written test. next part is the defense measurement. frito dirumutto seemed to be resenting mc. mc asks the proctor the launch a 5th level spell on him. mc defends vs the attack. sylvester, a first rank knight arrives to be a proctor of the exam investigates the rumor regarding mc. sylvester is in awe and couldn't believe at the feats mc is showing. meanwhile, mc and lynette are discussing. lynette tells mc that mc shouldn't hold back in the first half of the exam but in the second half, the mock battle. suddenly, frito dirumutto appears and insults mc. frito is crying that they way things were goinf, he couldn't make a debut as a prodigy since mc is hogging the spot light. suddenly, frito's elder sister appear, angelica. frito tells angelica, mc is bullying him. mc tries to defend himself by telling he doesn't. angelica officially asks for a duel with mc. mc unknowingly accepts. angelica gives a condition, the one who loses becomes a servant to the winner. before the duel, lynette tells mc the ranking of knights. angelica is a second class knight, comparably, she is as steong as a b rank adventurer. mc is f rank. lynette tells mc to hold back and not to worry. compared to the 2 years training mc undergone, the fight is simple. the duel commences. angelica shows off her quick step attacks.
3 angelica keep using her quick steps. mc dodges easily. mc felt at ease. angelica attacks, trips and unleashes very random barrage of attacks. mc almost got hit. mc believed he had to take things seriously. angelica goes for her ultimate moves. mc easily dodges them. angelica uses her ult move for the last time but trips. she failed to hit mc. mc in serious mode, attacks. mc hits the ground and it cause a great fissure. mc apparently missed. mc still wants to go continue fighting. angelica saw the great gap between their powers. angelica immediately surrenders.
4 angelica says its her first lose vs mc. mc asks about the condition angelica gave. mc got ignored. mc let things slide. in the guild, mc and lynette are discussing about the first half of the exam. mc is worried he might not make it for the second half. suddenly, lastar dirumutto appears. he wants to take lynette as his second wife. mc intervenes and says lynette is his girlfriend. lastar reveals he's an examiner/proctor for second half of the exam. lastar says mc is lying. lynette says she actually is mc's girlfriend. lastar got mad and promised to make it hard forbmc if in case mc gets to the second half. lastar leaves. the participants for second half gets announced. mc will be part taking in the second half. mc apologizes to lynette for making such a lie. lynette says it was fine and she's glad about itm lynette leaves mc to tell the rest of their party about mc's coming test. meanwhile, frito and angelica came to lastar, their elder brother, to tell on mc. lastar got even more mad at mc. after, mc and lynette goes for mc's second hal of the exam. mc meets with lynx lolott, the supposed proctor in charge of mc's second half of the exam. lynx wants to talk to mc. mc thought he will be ridiculed again. to his surprised, lynx lolott praised mc for his determination of wanting to be an adventurer despite his age. lynx lolott says he sympathized with mc and that they have a lot in common. mc finds a soul buddy in lynx lolott. lynx lolott tells mc he will not be playing favorite during the exam. mc understand this. the two even promised to have a drink despite the result after the second half exam. after the three part ways, lynx lolott meets with lastar dirumutto.
5 during the waiting for the second half exam, an announcement tells everyone that lynx lolott couldn't make it as an examiner due to health conditions and that lastar dirumutto will be taking care of mc's group. many in mc's group felt worried that they won't make it as adventurer because of lastar taking over. mc feels worried. meanwhile, lastar while taking care of the examinee, he awaits for mc to come. a subordinate of lastar appears and wants to deal with mc's disqualification. lastar feels he'd rather like it and task them to do so. in the waiting room, while mc is getting worried, a hooded man appears. he offers mc a way to lessen his burden. mc takes the offer. mc gets teleported away. lynette who was with mc saw everything and got mad. she launches at the hooded man and asks where mc went. mc gets ported elsewhere. there were men in suit and a bald guy waiting for him. they reveal themselves as the elite guards of the dirumutto household. they will be killing mc. mc just realized the hooded guy was actually frito and that he is being targetted by the dirumutto household. mc felt doomed. suddenly, the rest of the orichalcum fist party arrives at the scene. they greet mc. mc feels even more afraid.
6 the orichalcum fist party asks why mc is outside the venue. mc lies and says they are friends doing a demo. mc asks the elite guard to withdraw. the elite guards ignores mc and attacks the orichalcum fist party. the orichalcum fist easily takes care of the elite guard. the elite guard leader, on his own retires from work and didn't even consider fighting.
7 mc returns to the waiting room. lynette is still holding frito. frito says that mc is getting beat up. mc arrives and he is fine. lynette made frito passed through the ceiling. mc and lynette waits for mc's turn. mc is still worried about his mock battle. lynette gave mc comforting words and a great word of advice. mc's worries got lessen. suddenly, lynx lolott appears. he is badly beaten. he reveals that it was lastar who beat him. lynx says he heard the talk mc and himself did. lastar got mad and beat the heck out of him. mc got mad. he made up his resolve. mc got called. it was his turn to face lastar.
8 in the audience stand, lynette meets with arisa. they decided to watch together. the two went tonthe rest of the orichalcum fist who will be watching mc's mock battle. they have high hopes for mc. mc vs lastar. mc followed lynettes advice for the battle. for the first bout, mc will tank the attacks of lastar and feel what lastar is lacking. lastar dishes out all his magic vs.mc. mc gets hit but he withstood everything. after mc realizes lastar's flaw, mc makes a move.
9 mc vs lastar continues. lastar continues to insult mc. mc pulls out his own low level skill he mastered beyond perfection and defeats lastar.
10 mc is greeted by the orichalcum fist party. mc then meets with lastar and gave him an advice. lastar vows his revenge on the next promotion exam of mc. backstory of mc. how mc dreamed of becoming an adventurer and defeating the strongedt monster. how mc got a hidden skill that never manifested. how mc kept wanting to be an adventurer until mc only landed a receptionist job in an adventurer guild. how mc felt left behind by his peer who became full pledged adventurers while mc for 14 years is still just a receptionist. how mc first met lynette.
11 flashback continue. how lynette saves mc. how mc asks lynette her opinion being a late bloomer and lynettes honest opinion. how mc gets to have a dinner with lynette. how it gets ruined by a monster invasion. how mc saw his adventurer friend fighting. how lynette warns of the remote village they are in to run away as a dragon is about to attack. how mc and the rest of the adventurers gets face to face with a dragon.
12 flashback continue. how the adventurers are panicking trying to run away from the dragon while mc standstill and comes to face the dragon head on. how the other adventurer got their morale up just by seeing their receptionist in the frontline. how the dragon unleashes a breath attack, they all get sent flying. how mc withstood the attack. how mc suddenly manifested his skill after waiting for so long. how mc unleashed his skill and one hit killed the dragon. how the adventurers as well lynette witnessed mc's feat. how mc collpased and when mc woke up it was already a few days later. how lynette is waiting fornmc to gain conciousnes and how lynette invite mc tonthe orichalcum fist party. how lynette changed her opinion on mc and him becoming an adventurer. how lynette also mentioned to mc they are aiming for the same thing, the strongest monster. how mc accepts the offer and joined the orichalcum fist. end of flashback. back to the present, mc is among the ones who are finally registered as full pledged adventurers. mc felt he has came a long way.
