1 mc, jin runcandel, is born from a prestigious powerful family of warriors. when he was a toddler, although hebwas the youngest son, he was chosen, through a ritual, as the next head of their family. unfortunately, mc is very weak. all his family hated him. at age 25, he was banished from his home. mc then met his met master. he learns about magic, which he is actually good at. magic is forbidden in his household. 3 years later, as mc goes the path of magic, a spirit, solderet god if shadows, makes a contract with mc. the spirit tells mc he was cursed making him inept with sword arts. after the contract, mc was able to use shadow craft as well as be immune to curses. mc practices with his sword technique which he couldn't before. unfortunately, as the night goes on, they were attacked by unknown forces. mc lies dying beneath the rubble as he regret being given powers for mere moments and have them shattered. as mc closed his eyes a bright light suddenly shone. he was back in his family and mc is his 1 year old self again. he was undergoing the ritual of who the next clan head will be. mc once more chise to be one but this time, he tells himself, he will be the one to decide
2 6 years have past. mc stays in one of their castle (stormcastle). his two brothers (11th and 12th) tries bullying him but knowing that these two will be villanainous characters in the future, mc used shadow craft and beat the two. their guardian knight, khan, appears to deescalare the situation. mc lies as he tell khan that the two siblings fought each others. khan noticed mc's unbelievable powers and decided to report it to the current family head. upon hearing the report of khan, the family head calls his, flagbearers, subleaders or direct subordinates of the head. they head for the stormcastle.
3 it seems magic is forbidden all throughout everywhere or at least for their family. the head as well his subordinates, the flagbearers, family members arrives at the stormcastle. the head first interrogated the twins (11 and 12), the head was not satisfied with their answer. mc was then summon. mc was also interrogated and his answer have somehow merit him to have a 1 on 1 talk with the head. the head questions mc's power. mc shows him his power. the power of shadow from solderet. also, one of the flagbearers, (mary 7th) seemed to be interest at mc.
4 as mc showed his power, the head immediately recognized it. it's the power of the shadow god that had blessed their family. with this mc is somehow given an okay signal with his power. after the meeting, the interested flagbearer, mary, approaches mc and gave him a gift. a phoenix heart that will strengthen mc as well make him fire resistant. mc also thought of using the gift to summon his own phoenix. as mc enjoys the gift, his two elder brothers (11 and 12) suddenly approached and asked if they could eat some. mc orders to dig a tunnel if they want to get some.
5 the twins came back and got to taste the gift. but only teaspoon each. mc went to the tunnel the two dug. in the end of the tunnel mc used his magic to destroy a wall. there he enters and got in front of their family's secret storage. it contains documents, tomes and books from the clans their family defeated. to a mage, it's a trove of wisdom. he knows of this when his brother from his former life told him about it. as he enters, he finds a perfectly preserved body, murakan their family's guardian dragon in human form. but mc has got nothing to do with it. mc went with his task of copying the tomes and bringing the copy back so he could learn from them. then one night as mc copies one of the tome, murakan enters the study chamber. after a short introduction, mc shows murakan his shadow power. as per his contract with solderet the shadow god, murakan becomes a companion of mc. he also showed his shadow dragon form.
6 mc kept murakan in the storage room. weeks past as mc goes back and forth, transcribing, he also learned a lot from murakan. murakan also teach mc a shadow technique, shadow energy liberation, something that take control of shadow. chapter ends with the flagbearer 1, luna, subjugating multiple monsters, telling her troops take a break and asking her subordinate what a 9 year old would like as a gift.
7 few months passed, siblings 11 and 12 left the stormcastle, mc celebrate his 9th birthday and suddenly their cold and distant eldest sister, luna, visits. she tells mc to be wary of how family affair work in their clan. mc reassures her he is fine. he even tells her about an assassination attempt towards him. this angered luna. but then again mc calmed her. she grieved as she never wanted her youngest sibling to take part in their family dirty clan affairs but mc had already gotten himself into it. she then gave mc an artifact pendant that when destroyed will summon luna by his side. upon murakan seeing the artifact, he tells mc it's a very valuable thing as it got protection and enhancement enchanctment and the summoning. it an artifact of demon king orgal. murakan then tells mc that his sister who gave him the pendant artifact someone he could trust as she deeply cares for him.
8 a year passed, mc's 10, he is readying to go join the main castle. mc have absorbed half ot the phoenix heart he got from mary the 7th flagbearer. he then went back to murakan to tell of his departure. murakan tells mc he will follow him and he will become unnoticeable. he also mentiones that the runcandel family was once a magic swordsman until the latter generation decide, after a vow, to give up on it and only go attain the peak of swordsmanship. come next day, mc and his personal maid, gilly and along with two knights, jerome and holtz escorting head for the main castle.
9 as they head out, a sudden ambushed halt their journey. mc had a sudden hunch that their escorts were fakes and those who ambushed them were allies. it turns out to be true. mc asked his personal maid to deal with one of the fake escorts and have the other survive and be interrogated. mc then find out about zipple. a clan completely opposite of runcandel, mc's clan gears towards ultimate swordsmanship, zipple clan gears towards ultimate magic. after the death of the founder of the runcandel clan, zipple made the runcandels oath to never use magic. mc had another hunch that zipple would not do such a thing and so he thought it was only the followers choice to do so but he has this image of someone who might be pulling the strings.
10 the rescuing warrior escorts mc and his personal maid. along the way, mc tells mc it isn't her fault. as gilly once again apologize, mc remembers how she was in his pastlife. she cared for mc as well, she never changed even in their current lives. mc scolds her that it isn't her fault. mc wants her to have a firmer resolve and be more strong, in order for her to have a better life compared to how things happened. when they got to the town and as they were taking a room to take their rest, mc recalls the person he suspect to be involved, the transformation sorceror bubare gaston. this is also the reason why their 9 stars and 7 stars knights were also fooled to not finding anything suspicious about the fake escorts. as mc falls asleep from hia exhaustion, gilly went outside to guard his room. come next day, murakan appears in the form of a black cat. mc let him in. murakan transforms back to his human form but he stumbles. gilly hears the commotion, immediately enters the room and subdues murakan. murakan upon finding out the name of his attacker somehow became romantic. it's because of the many strawberry pie she bake that mc always gives him.
